Staff

The staff of CFC includes one senior/lead pastor, five pastors, and one intern with the desire to serve in order to produce Kingdom workers. While they share this common goal and vision, God has also created each one with his own unique personality, life experience and future calling. We sat down for an interview with each of them to find out more about their passions, joys and some occasional humor.

Meet the Pastors

Reverend Dr. Min Joshua Chung - Lead Pastor
Affectionately known as “Pastor Min”, he is the founding and lead pastor of Covenant Fellowship Church. Along with his pastoral duties, he serves as a board member of "Serving in Mission (SIM)", Global Partners (GP), and KIMNET. He is also an adjunct professor at Urbana Theological Seminary. He received his Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, and Doctorate of Ministry degrees from Biblical Theological Seminary and majored in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He currently resides in Urbana, IL with his wife, Gee, and five children, Joshua, Daniel, Ruth, Hannah, and Sarah. Interview with Pastor Min (1996). Interview with Pastor Min (1998)

Reverend David Kang
Reverend David Kang graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Masters in Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and joined our staff in August 2008. He is married to Grace and they are proud parents of three children, Samuel, Micah, and Tabitha.

Reverend KJ Kim
Reverend KJ Kim is an associate pastor at Covenant Fellowship Church since 2008 and currently serves as the educations pastor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Math Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, upon which he taught middle school students for six years. He eventually received his Master of Divinity from Covenant Seminary in 2008. He is a diehard Cubs fan and loves hanging with his family and playing basketball when he has free time. He is married to Susie and they are blessed with four children: Sarah, Eunice Mary, and Samuel.

Pastor Jim Han
Pastor Jim Han graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has worked in the consulting and IT industry for 10+ years. In 2008, he started at Covenant Seminary for a Master of Divinity and served as a youth pastor at the First Korean Presbyterian Church in St. Louis for the next 4 years. He joined the CFC staff in the summer of 2011.

Reverend John Chong
Reverend John Chong majored in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Master of Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary and joined our staff in October 2006. He is married to Janice and they are proud parents of five children, Johnathan, Jeremy, Josiah, Joanna and Julia. Interview coming soon.

Pastor Sean Lee
Pastor Sean Lee grew up in the West coast and moved to Chicago during High School. He majored in Finance in the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. He received his Master of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He has a huge heart for creative arts and missions. And he loves the Lakers, playing basketball and eating late at night.

Tony Thomas
Tony Thomas graduated with a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is scheduled in Spring 2012 to complete his Master of Divinity from Columbia International University and he joined staff in 2010. Tony is married to Marilyn and they are proud parents of their daughter, Joy.
